Victorian Serpentine Gold Buckle Brooch, circa 1870
This intriguing egg-shaped pin has a flat base and faceted edges carved of bowenite, a variety of serpentine, wrapped in an engraved rose gold ribbon with central buckle. Typical of the English Victorian period, the back is fitted with a pocket watch/pendant hook and a C-clasp. (Cross for display only).
