Russian Imperial-era Porcelain Figurine of Woman with Kokoshnik, Gardner, circa 1840

This rare porcelain figurine depicts a young maiden in Russian national attire wearing a pink apron over a blue dress and holding a basket in both hands, a long braid falling from behind her gilded kokoshnik headdress, on a circular naturalistic base enhanced with gilding.

Founded in 1766 in the village of Verbilki near Moscow, the Gardner Factory was one of the first private porcelain factories in Russia.
