Russian Imperial-era Gold & Diamond Bracelet by Ignatiev, St. Petersburg, circa 1840

This superb Russian bracelet from the reign of Tsar Nicholas I (1825-1855) is set with approximately 6 carats of diamonds forming a foliate and scrolling design. The diamond mount sits on a tiered openwork gold gallery typical of the period and forms the detacheable centerpiece of the bracelet.

Made in the imperial capital of St. Petersburg, the bracelet was most likely commissioned by a member of the Tsar’s court or the aristocracy.

by the imperial goldsmith Andrei Ignatievich Ignatiev, circa 1840, stamped with the maker’s Cyrillic initials A.I., 56 , the Russian gold standard for 14k and the crossed anchor and scepter for St. Petersburg.
