Russian Catherine the Great Silver Plate, St. Petersburg, 1763
A rare dinner plate from period of Empress Catherine II (1762-1796), made just one year into her reign, with raised border and reeded rim.
Fully hallmarked with maker’s mark, alderman’s mark, St. Petersburg coat of arms, and 74 silver standart, which was in use in Russia until 1792. St. Petersburg plates from the mid 18th century with this hallmark are seldom seen in the west.
