Designer Pearl 18k Gold Brooch by Maurice Brault, 1970s

Of curved linear design, in 18k gold accented with light blue Murano glass and cultured pearls. 20th century, signed.

4 in. (10.2 cm.) long.

Maurice Brault (1930-2018) was a Montreal based jeweler, enameler and silversmith. Brault studied in Belgium, in Paris at Van Cleef and Arpel, and in Venice where he started incorporating Murano glass into his designs, as seen here. His jewelry was featured in 30 exhibitions in Quebec, New York and Europe, and was exhibited at the Hermitage in Russia in 2007 as part of a loan exhibition from the Museum of Fine Arts Museum of Montreal. He also created objects and jewels for Queen Elizabeth II and the Queen mother.
