Le Livre des Milles nuits et une nuit, 16 volumes (Paris: Eugène Fasquelle, 1912-1920).
“The Thousand and One Nights,” a collection of folk tales from the Middle East and South Asia, translated into French in 16 volumes by Joseph-Charles Mardrus. These tales, probably of Indian origin, were transmitted to Persia where they were written down. They are famous for their narrative framework, in which Scheherazade tells stories to King Shahryar for a thousand and one nights to avoid death.
