Lapis Lazuli 18k Gold Egg Cufflinks by Marie Betteley

Fine pair of hand-carved egg-shaped lapis cufflinks based on a Fabergé design from 1880 by the firm’s head workmaster, Erik Kollin, the well-matched deep blue lapis links recall fine Siberian specimens of the 19th century. Each egg and lapis bar link is hand polished and joined together by a small 18k yellow gold chain.

Designed by Marie Betteley, 1997.

Length of egg link is approximately .5 in. (1.3 cm.); chain, .75 in. (1.9 cm.), 8.7 grams gr. wt.

Tsar Nicholas II received a pair of egg-shaped cufflinks for Easter 1902 from Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, which he later recorded in gouache in his personal journal (image), see The Jewel Album of Tsar Nicholas II, London, 1997, no. 233.
